What is Blossom Peer Support?

Blossom Peer Support is founded as an alternative to standard psychotherapy. In my experience, psychotherapy can be pathologizing and too rigid to make progress towards my goals. Additionally, many of my therapists in the past have been uncomfortable or unknowledgeable about topics I was bringing to session.

As a peer support, I desire to meet the needs of those who hold similar identities and life experiences. In my time as a social worker, I have learned that rapport and providing a positive, safe relationship over time are the two most important aspects of the therapeutic success. I believe involving the medical system, diagnoses, and insurance reduce the ability of myself and the client to maintain focus and grow over time.

I am deeply passionate about serving others; especially those within my own community and identities. In particular, I am drawn to others who experience chronic, long-term suicidality and those questioning their gender. Are you looking to connect with someone around topics others struggle to talk about? Would you like advice from someone who has been through something similar? I am at your service! Take a look at the About Me section for a more detailed explanation of the identities I hold and the life experiences I have had.

What is a “Support Agreement?”

The Support Agreement serves as a social contract between myself and the client. It describes the ground rules of the client-professional relationship as well as what clients can expect from me. It also allows to set up an expected time-frame, goals for our relationship, and any specific needs that require additional support. It will be discussed in the first consultation, and decided on in the first full session.
